Pilgrim Perspective Reporter: Hailey Bottorff

Hailey Bottorff

Hailey Bottorff is a freshman who is brand new to not only student publications, but the entire journalism scene.

She spends her free time drawing, taking photos of her five dogs, and spending time with her five siblings. Hailey decided to take a class in student publications because she enjoys getting to know people and taking shots of people living their daily lives. She plans on joining multiple clubs, such as Alpha Delta Rho, Sunshine Society, and Key Club.

When asked about whether it was writing or photography she was more excited about, there was a quick reply of photography. She went on to talk about how she loved capturing the moments of happiness in life and having those memories with an image. She is sure she wants to continue doing yearbook and newspaper in the future as she finds student publications to be one of her favorite classes so far.

“I think photography is a very beautiful art. There is nothing else in the world like taking a photo of an athlete winning their first gold medal or a stranger displaying kind acts.”

In the bigger picture, Hailey says that she’s anticipating a good school year, hoping to find more interests, friends, and achievements. After high school, Hailey plans to go to college to pursue a career in photography. Although she has a dream to become familiar with the camera, she has bigger dreams to become a National Geographic reporter. She plans to get married young and travel to Italy and Australia with her husband because she’s fascinated with the native animals and surroundings and wants to explore new countries with her loved ones.
