Regarding her experience with journalism, Thompson said, “I don’t know what to expect because I’ve never had experience with a class like this.” However, she enjoys writing and has not backed away from modern, divergent classes. In addition to Journalism, Thompson has chosen online English and online Government/Econ as advantageous additions to her schedule. She hopes that the technical and organizational aspect of these online classes will give her an advantage while in college. To further advance her dream, completing college and starting a career as ER nurse, Thompson is working at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. There, she helps prepare for surgeries. For example, Thompson’s primary responsibility is to accurately and adeptly organize surgeons’ tools. Thompson has managed to recognize the opportunities of the present and espy the future. Considering her past and her legacy, Thompson would advise the freshmen at Plymouth High School to “be yourself.”

Leora Games, a transferred Freshman originally from Laville, loves to write as a stress reliever. While enrolled in Journalism, Games thinks she’ll enjoy getting to know more about the people and events throughout the school. In her free time, she loves to play soccer, eat pizza, listen to hip hop and country music, and spend time with friends. Games has multiple pets including four dogs, three cats, twelve chickens, one chinchilla, one turtle, and has a total of twenty-seven siblings within her family. Games annually celebrates her birthday on the 10th of December. Coming into high school, Games was most nervous about the amount of people she didn’t know. During school, Games likes to see friends and play soccer when in season. Her favorite sport is soccer and is interested in joining PHS Volleyball and learning more about Broadcasting. According to Games, some of the differences between Laville and Plymouth include size and class options. One thing Games says she would change about PHS is the lunch menu, and she is attracted by the variety of different classes. Games’ future plans include attending school and becoming a photographer in Paris.

Loren Michael Mattern is a freshman at Plymouth High School. Many incoming freshmen always arrive with preconceived notions about high school life and the students in general, but, as with Mattern, they soon change their minds. Mattern said, “It a lot less nerve-wracking than I originally thought it would be.” Like most teenagers, she realizes she was shaped by her past, and her present will influence her future. Mattern said, “If my dad hadn’t gotten into a wreck – which he is now paralyzed – we wouldn’t be as close as we are now. Now I live with him. And I wouldn’t be as strong as a person as I am now.” Currently, Mattern is an ESTP. Describing her personality, Mattern said, “ESTP. The Dynamo. I’m extroverted, sensing, thinking, and perceiving.” She added, “I think it [her personality] will [affect her]. Because some people have to be around certain types of people. And energetic thrill seekers – this is paraphrasing – with dynamic energy who assess situations quickly and responds immediately with practical solutions are only for some people. Not everyone’s personalities match up.” Thinking about her future prospects, Mattern said, “I did want to be an engineer, but I tried Project Lead the Way [in the past] and it didn’t go so well, so I’d rather work with computers and do web design.” Thinking farther into the future about her goals, Mattern said, “[My future goals are to go to] college and build my own house, and get a good job in Columbia, Tennessee. Always be in the top 25% of my class.” Mattern said, “[In five years, I see myself] with my college I already chose, and saving up money having a full time summer job.”
