From vacuuming the classrooms, cleaning the bathrooms, and sweeping the halls, Plymouth High School’s head custodian Jeff is the one that keeps it all together.

Taking a new position at our school, Jeff Mink is the new head custodian for PHS. He has worked here for two years and drives about 50 minutes each day to get here from his home in South Bend. Before he worked here, he worked for Repairs Inc (Plumbing and heating company.) He thinks working at PHS is just a great job opportunity and a challenging job. Jeff finds serving the Plymouth community rewarding. All jobs have challenges and the things that are easiest. “The hardest part is juggling all of the tasks that need to be done. The easiest is getting along with everybody at PHS. Everyone here is so helpful.”

Of course there is going to be fun moments while working. Jeff’s most fun moment was catching the bat in the library. If he had to pick the thing he enjoys most about his job would be working with the staff. If he could change something, he would pick a longer summer. Jeff is a shy person and that’s why when there is school dress up days or pep rallies you will not see him dressed up, “the less attention the better.” A typical day for Jeff would be  “I first check room temperatures to make sure there is nothing out of the ordinary. Then I turn on lights throughout the school and unlock doors. Then I’m ready for any other tasks for the day, like fixing lights, unclogging drains, catching bats, or whatever the day brings me.”

As the life as a custodian, it may be stressful, but Jeff loves working at PHS.
