Individuals express themselves by the clothing they wear, and the clothing they wear is inspired by the different seasons. The late winter season, which the fashion world is currently in, is undergoing some changes that help both a small budget and a unique sense of style.
The current economic state can have many fashionistas feeling the crunch. However, preparing one’s closet with a tight pocket, or with a small budget can be accomplished for the late winter season without bringing many challenges. “I go for the more casual look,” Freshman Victoria Short explains, “ My favorite thing to wear is jeans and a sweatshirt, plus there always in style.” On the contrary, Sophomore Brittany Gantz has a much different approach for preparing her closet for any season. “Shopping,” she said. “Whenever I want to incorporate some ‘in’-trend in my wardrobe, I always save my money and go shopping. I also just move the clothing that I already own to the front of my closet if it is acceptable to wear during a the season we’re currently in.”
Whether out on a shopping adventure or clearing out one’s closet, it is important to know what looks good on and what is in season. When asked what is her favorite print is to wear this season, Sophomore Dana Hall exclaimed, “Bold dark colored prints.”
On the other hand, it is also equally important to wear the clothing apparel that is both stylish and comfortable to wear and be seen in. Freshman Darcy Fisher explains how she incorporates the latest winter trends into her wardrobe. “I do not really incorporate anything, I kind of just wear what I have in my closet.” With a more sophisticated look, Hall shares how she dress for the late winter season, “I love wearing moccasins, chunk knits, sweaters, and fleece jackets. I also believe that chunky sweaters, long leggings, and patterned/textured tights are going to be extremely popular this season.”
Gantz`s first priority when it comes to dressing is comfort. She later explains how she incorporates comfort into her style, “My favorite thing to wear during any winter month is a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and Ugg boots. A new style that I think is becoming really popular is when girls where a big sweatshirt with a pair of leggings under it.”
Wearing clothing that is comfortable and stylish can sometimes be influenced by people seen in an everyday setting. “I truly think that Kenzie Miller and Elizar Trevino follow fashion rules perfectly,” Gantz described. Both Fisher, and Short agree that freshman Emmelyn Brandt is a fashion inspiration.
Even though some styles may not be for everyone, many teenagers are finding a way to express themselves through their style of dressing.
