Dr. Seuss’s stories are read all over the world.
A great amount of children that read Dr. Seuss books often have a favorite story for a reason. Senior Tori Godwin said, “The one I remember the most is Green Eggs and Ham because I thought the story was hilarious and I really wanted to try green eggs and ham.” Dr. Seuss books provide children with an unusual theme to make learning a lesson fun and easy. He could indeed make a rhyme anytime.
A variety of Dr. Seuss books have been made into motion pictures. Freshman, Cyann Comb said, “I liked The Lorax best of all because when they made it into a movie they brought it to life and it was cool!” Sadly, some of Dr. Seuss books haven’t been made into a movie yet, but the books are still fun to read. Junior Scarlet Torres remembers Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, and all the places you’ll go. With Cat in the Hat on her mind, Torres said, “I loved to watch the movie like every night.” Dr. Seuss books provides us with a good time while practicing our reading skills. Godwin said, “How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I love that story! It showed me at a young age that people can change, but it takes the right kind of person to change them. It showed me the value of family and friends, and really got me in the Christmas spirit. To this day, it is one of my favorite Dr. Seuss tales.” Dr. Seuss books could teach someone a variety of lessons between trying something new to Christmas spirit.
There are a multitude of reasons why people love Dr. Seuss books so much. Torres said, “it made my imagination go crazy!” Dr. Seuss has a multitude of books that can provide children entertainment. Whether it is any book between Green Eggs and Ham to Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss could make an educational book that is fun to read. Even though the books are meant for children, they can also have an impact on lives. Godwin said, “I believe each of them is infused with some sort of lesson. I think creativity is the big one because of how Seuss writes the stories. He embraces life outside the box and I personally believe that each story gives off that feeling and encourages kids to look beyond what they see to look at something completely new, but wonderful.” It is truly an amazing thing when a book can impact a child’s life.

Along with the wacky titles, settings, and words Dr. Seuss has extraordinary characters. Torres favorite character is “Cat in the hat because he is funny and crazy and is laid back no matter what happens and plus his best friends are thing 1 and thing 2!” Whether one has four favorite characters or only two, the book is still memorable for children. Godwin said, “Seuss always had great characters, so I can’t pick just one.” Comb said that her favorite character is The Lorax.
Sometimes when people read stories with someone then it makes memories. The memories in a person’s mind can be of people, places, or any special event. Torres remembers that her brother and her mother read her the stories when she was little. Now in present day society, children tend to watch movies than read books. But there is still hope for authors when they have readers like Cyann Combs. Combs said, “I read them at school and home.” Not only do students read at school and home, some try to read whenever time allows, Godwin said, “I read whenever and wherever I could. Whether it be outside, in my room, at school, or on my bed.”
Dr. Seuss books bring joy and happiness to children who read them. Even though he has passed away, he lives on through his stories.
