The start of a new basketball season means new goals and hopes for a better year. Being on the team takes a lot of dedication, focus, and much needed hard work. Plymouth High School girls describe just what it means to be a Lady Pilgrim.

Every year the players and the coaches always hope to have a successful year and go far. To have a team there needs to be an effective offense and defense.  The offense is the team who is trying to score the points, which is a very important part of the game. Senior Erin Kinney says, ” our offense is actually clicking very well this year and we’re playing as a team.” Sophomore Amber Redinger says, ” the offense is a lot better, we control the ball and do not rush into plays.” Offense plays a large part in games, but it is the defense that also plays a large part on the court.   She explains that they have a pretty good defense, and defense is usually what saves them, but also says their off-ball defense could use a little work. Even though off-ball defense may need a little work, Redinger says they are more disciplined than last year.
Being able to perform well as a team and play as one takes a lot of practicing. Kinney and Redinger explain that they practice every day Monday-Saturday. “If we don’t have a game, then we practice for about two to two and a half hours,” Kinney says. It’s hard to win anything without practice, and a lot of hard work.

Every year, the greatest hope for the team is to go to state, but first, they must defeat one of their biggest rivals, Warsaw. The team hopes to defeat them by working hard every week, and stopping Warsaw’s  playing strategies. Working hard as a team will give great results and success.
