It is not Halloween, yet everyone dresses up every day of the week. And on Friday, everybody shows solidarity by wearing PHS’s colors. It is Homecoming.
For some students, homecoming is all about the dress up days. Others are just fired up for the pep rally on Friday. Senior Madison Good was fired up 100%.
Senior Kaitlyn Lenne thought homecoming was “About an eight out of ten. I do like the pep rally but I think too many people take it too serious. It is suppose to be fun for everyone not competitive.” Sophomore Cassandra Quissell comments, “The best part about homecoming is the Pep Session on Friday! It’s so fun to see all the classes compete for the Spirit Stick!” Sophomore Brittany Banks just says, “PEP RALLY!”The senior class of 2012-2013 won the spirit stick, and celebrated their victory by jumping about with their classmates and congratulating each other on winning.
However, the pep session is not the only reason why students are so fired up all week. Dress up days bring students the opportunity to dress silly for a reason. To get their class one step closer to the spirit stick, and to have fun.Sophomore Haley Harrell says, “I LOVE dressing up for the dress up days! So fun!”
Freshman Gabby Garver says, “The best part about homecoming is getting to dress up in crazy outfits all week long.” While in the hallways, I saw many students with fun outfits that looked like they took a while to piece together. Sophomore Emily Gadziola comments, “It took me about 30 minutes to get ready.” With all the complicated and crazed outfits aside, there is one more thing that makes homecoming amazing.Homecoming queen contestants are also a big part of homecoming.
Senior Kristi Pacheco says that when she is going to elect a homecoming queen, she looks for “her attitude, her personality and her beauty.” However, sophomore Kirstin Riise, comments, “I like when they are all dressed up and looking nice next to the guy.” Junior Kyle Barry says, “They were all perfect candidates, so I just picked one.”The homecoming queen election outcome came out on Friday, at the exciting game of Plymouth vs. Wawasee. Abby Schumacher now holds the title of the 2012-2013 homecoming queen for the fall. PHS’s football team won Friday night against, previously mentioned, Wawasee. The boys beat Wawasee 53-14.
