In life, almost every human being has or will be coming to the point where they must get a job; whether it be what they want to do or just a career to earn money.
In high school, students think and plan the type of career that they want to pursue, and then they take classes that will help them in that career. Not all people go to college, but today more and more people are starting to. For those who do, most already have the mindset of what career they want and will try to major in it. For Sophomore Michael Bloomfield, he said he would like to be an inventor, “I like to make things, [plus] you get to draw.” Junior Casey McDonald on the other hand, would rather become a sports broadcaster, “I want to pursue this career because I love being in broadcasting! Being in front of the camera is something I really like to do, and it interests me because you can travel the country to talk to athletes and go to different sporting events and not have to play! But actually it’s because it has always interested me and I love everything about sports, so it works.” Freshman Carly Berger would like to go into neuroscience, “I used to have a lot of medical issues, and I had to see several neurologist, and it just really fascinates me how much they know about my brain and everyone else’s.” Like McDonald, sophomore Gianella Cerriteno as well likes the idea of a camera, just in a different way. Cerriteno would like to become a singer, actress and a choreographer, “I simply love to sing and act and teach others to dance.” Freshman Brandon Zehner would like to be a pro football player, “I have played [football] for a long time and I love it. It’s my life.”
Students can pick a career that they want to pursue and think they will accomplish big things in the profession. For Bloomfield, he said, “I hope to change the world.” McDonald wants to accomplish making her way to being on ESPN as Zehner said he wants to be on one of his favorite [football] teams. Berger said, “[she can] hopefully help a lot of people out with brain injuries.” Hacha said, “I hope to help babies, children, or even teenagers in getting better and curing any medical problem they may be having! If a cure isn’t possible, I just want to find a way to get them better somehow.” Cerriteno just wants to become better at singing and acting and help others to be dancers for big concerts for famous singers.
Most people grow up with a certain career in mind, but sometimes it does not work out and must figure something else out. For Bloomfield, his back-up would be a veterinarian, “because I like animals.” McDonald said her back-up career would still be in the sports field, “whether it be a sports journalist or a radio analyst.” Berger said she would become a physiologist or pediatrician, “something in the medical field that’s less rigorous [than a neurologist]. Hacha on the other hand, said, “If it isn’t possible for me to get into the PNP (Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) field, then I plan on just being a regular nurse for pediatrics. Even though that’s not entirely a different field, I plan on somehow getting in nursing anyway I can. I want to help people, and going in the medical field has always been a dream of mine.” Like Berger and Hacha, Cerriteno’s backup is in the medical field, “I would like to become a surgeon. I think that being a surgeon would be such an interesting job and new challenges everyday.” Zehner said his backup would be a tv producer, “I mess around with this a lot in broadcasting.”
The main career and backup are what most people plan in life, but in the back of their minds, they dream. Dream about being a singer, actor, model or something else in this area. For Bloomfield he said that he dreams about being a cop. McDonald said, “I’ve always wanted to be an actor, because I’m great at acting! I love being in front of people and acting crazy and portraying different people. If I could go back to Jr. High and do it all over again, that’s what I would do. But my dream job is to work for ESPN/sports center; being on there for everyone to see would be awesome! Especially for my family and friends to sit there and say “I know her! She’s my best friend/family member!”’ Like McDonald, Berger said, “[I would] probably [go into] acting. I think it’d be fun to act out stuff and kind of be in a whole other world scenario.” Hacha said she does not have a dream job, except her dream for being a nurse. Cerriteno said that she already knows that singing is the area for her; and Zehner said his dream would be to be a pro football player.
Every person has a path; it is up to him or her to find it and follow it to success.
