Fall break is a chance for students to take a breather from school and all the stress they are going through and do some things that they enjoy doing.
Some students may or may not be going out of state over the short Fall break but they may be doing something just as interesting near home. For those students that are not going to other states over their break they may fantasize about what they want to do or where they wish they could go, for instance; Senior Karl Faulstich says, “I probably won’t be going to Florida, [I wish I could go there over Fall break].” Every one knows what Faulstich will be dreaming about over his Fall break. A lot of students go to Florida over Christmas break for the warm weather, Fall braek doesn’t allow much time for a long vacation. Freshman Camdon Hisey says, “I am going to Oklahoma.” As one can see there are some students that are going out of state during the short break. Freshman Sarah Puglisi says, “[I will be] going to Disney World [over Fall break!]” Students have fun experiences whenever they get the chance and this break is a good opportunity for them to get out here and have some fun. Freshman Breanne Morrow says, “We are headed to Kentucky, touring The Kentucky Derby.” That is something that most students have probably never done that she could share about with her friends.
When it comes to reality, students may be doing less pleasant activities rather than exploring the Disney characters, during their time away from school. Faulstich says, “I will be working and practicing football.” Many students are involved in out of school activities, such as sports, clubs, work or other things that take up a lot of their free time. Howerver, Hisey says, “[I plan to] sleep, a lot.” Some students may just be planning to catch up on some sleep they may have lost from waking up early for school. Puglisi says, “I expect to have fun and miss friends.” Of course students do not get to see all of their friends over Fall break. Morrow says, “I plan to ride horses, view where the Kentucky Derby is and go to warm campfires.” Being outside during Fall break and being active is something most people can enjoy. Junior Ryan Evans says, “I plan to practice football, watch football and eat.” Evans will be spending most of his break involving sports and food which may be a relaxing time for him.
Each individual student may have a favorite part about Fall break. Faulstich says, “My favorite part is when it starts.” Of course his least favorite part is when it ends. Although he has a broad opinion of fall break others have a more specific opinion about certain things they love about the short break. Morrow says, “I plan to go outside and hang with family only cause I have no electronics.” Electronics may play a good role in whether students stay inside rather than outside. The down side of Fall break is that the sun hides behind the clouds and barely peeks through, the weather starts turning cold and it is hard to do a lot of things outside. This may be a contradiction because most students said they planned to spend most of their time outside with friends and family playing games.
Fall break is a little shorter than most other breaks but students are still getting involved with things they normally do not during school. Spending time catching up with family, friends and maybe some sleep is what Fall Break is all about.
