It is freshman year for certain students at Plymouth High School, and a large number of them are already pondering their own future in their school careers.

Brandon Goodman is one of the students striving for technical honors. Goodman is aspiring to be a video game designer, and to prepare for that future he’s taking as many technological classes as possible. By the time he is a senior, he wants to look good for his dream college, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Haley Balkema is more interested in science. Balkema says she plans to pursue a career in science but is unsure what exact career she will want to achieve. Balkema is not afraid of the years ahead in high school and feels confident in her ability to reach a fulfilling career in science.

Melissa Johnson plans on taking as many advanced classes as she can. Johnson believes she would enjoy being a teacher, but for now she is striving to achieve academic honors and is keeping her options open.

Colleen Scarborough, an aspiring veterinarian, is planning on taking multiple science and animal related courses.

Other freshmen are not so sure of their futures. For example, Jessica Celmer, who does not know where she would like to attend college or what classes she plans on taking in her school career. Celmer does know that she is interested in achieving academic honors, but does not have anything set in stone yet.

Certain freshmen are finally getting comfortable with the school and have joined in on planning their futures like every other grade.

  1. I liked this article. The biggest reason I enjoyed it is because I learned that I’m not the only one who came into high school not knowing what the heck I was going to do for a living!

  2. I think it is easier to pick your future aas a freshman then to wait until your a senior. It is easier for some students to pick now more then later. Some people know what they want to do so they can pick but others wait until their senior year and then it will be to late.

  3. I kind of have a plan of what i want to do after High School and College but no set plan. I kinda want to wait awhile before i am sure of what i want to do. i think no matter what grade you are in you can start thinking of what you want to do.
