As one enters 2015, he or she also leaves 2014. That person must also look back on the special occasions that made this past year all that more enjoyable.

With every new year, there comes new possibilities. This includes getting a driver’s license, a new car, or possibly having new family members being born. Junior Elizabeth Gallardo said, “On my trip to Mexico over winter break my aunt gave birth to my baby cousin, Thiago.” Sophomore Jon Sommers also had an interesting new year. Sommers said, “My sister had a child and this was exciting to my family and I, to have someone else to look after.” Junior Leticia Torres looks back fondly on 2014. “The best part of 2014 was probably just feeling a little more independent and getting a lot of hard junior year classes out of the way after first trimester.”

With the new year there are new friends to be made in 2014. Sommers gave a list of classmates who he made friends with, freshman Callie Burch said “Yes, I made 3 great friends after I lost a few.” Torres said, “I lost friends but made plenty of good ones, some that I used to hate and are now here for me all the time.” Gallardo said, “I have made and lost friends this year, but each friend were able to help me with tough situations.” Sophomore Alex Cardiel said, “Yes I did and I’m happy.”
2014 may have been a good year for some people, but others may have had to overcome a great challenge. Grades can be a source of worry for students, like freshman Alyssa Solis who said, “I didn’t know if I would get good grades, but I did.” Time is a valuable thing for some people.“I think the great challenge that I had to overcome is knowing how to manage time and the importance of managing time is. For instance not procrastinating, ” said Gallardo. Sommers said that “his past year has been a trip I feel as if I had learned that good grades are truly important, and get that late work in.”Solis said that she will be “Taking more responsibility of myself, focusing on my homework.” Although 2014 is set and done, 2015 holds new possibilities for all.
