Sophomore Maria Herrera concluded that she would not be going anywhere during Fall Break. “It’s really not that long of a break so I don’t see how you could take a vacation,” she claimed. Herrera’s statement has not followed through for several
Plymouth High School students though. These include, Freshman Kiley Butler, Junior Alivia Hartle, Senior AJ Ortiz and a few others. Butler stated, “I am going to King’s Island and then visiting my aunt in Kentucky.” Hartle said, “I am going to Kentucky to Wavery Hills Haunted Sanitarium.” Even though Fall Break is “not that long of a break,” some students’ families have found differentiating ways to “celebrate” this school holiday.
Although, some agree with Herrera’s claim. Freshman Emma Daniels stated she has planned on “sleeping” for most of Fall Break. Freshman Emily Cochern replied that she “might be going to a pumpkin patch” and of course “sleeping.” Freshman Quinn Li Luther said exasperatedly, “I didn’t know Fall Break was next week.” Luther later commented, “Maybe I’ll go to someone’s house.” She was not exactly sure what she would be experiencing over the extended weekend.
There are endless opportunities to take advantage of over Fall Break. One freshman, Nathanael Shafer, models this. He explained his plans stating, “I am going to Fort Wayne [for] Purdue Space Day.” Sophomore Anthony Ramirez, will be using his time off to “hang with friends and get a job.”
Students also gave information on where they would go for a dream vacation. Freshman Sabel Bloss stated, “I would be in the
mountains [of] North Carolina. I would like to go back and see the colorful trees.” Later she claimed she would “hike, and camp there.” Bloss chose the destination “because it’s so peaceful and serene.” Quinn had chosen a similar destination, stating, “A place where the leaves have turned, [with] a cool breeze. Maybe on a lake excluded from other houses so you’re out in the nature. You can really soak in how beautiful the land looks.”

They also described the activities they would participate in their “dream” vacation. Hartle said hers would be “to go to the Caribbean and swim in the ocean.” Freshman John Lara claimed he would like to go to Hawaii because it offers “fishing, swimming, dancing, partying, and everything.” Freshman Aliyah Bertrand professed she would “love to go to Honduras” where she would “go tanning.”
Each student has a differing experience over Fall Break. Senior Stephanie Anderson states, “I am going to Phoenix to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. Then I am going to Texas for vacation.” Some will stay home, some will visit relatives, and some will enjoy theme parks. There is an endless number of activities that will be enjoyed over Fall Break.
