There is an explicit amount of activities that students at Plymouth High School can participate in, so when it comes to art these students can express their talent and imagination.

Students at Plymouth High School have different types of talents, and different styles of art they enjoy the most.  When it comes to art, these students realize it inspires them. Senior Morgan Thomas said “anything about art inspires me.” When Thomas has the time to create something, she enjoys using the classic pencil and paper rough sketches. While senior Carlee Hunter said “The main thing that inspires me about art is the fact that when you draw something, you become so connected to it. It’s something you uniquely created, and not one person on this Earth can make what you made.” Thomas likes the classic pencil and paper sketches, but when it comes to Hunter she likes the simple black and white drawings.

Having a talent can mean a lot to people. At PHS there are many students that sing, dance, act, and even have artistic abilities. Having artistic abilities may not be recognized as a talent to most people, but it does for juniors Carly Berger and Ryan MacLain. Berger explains, “When I was little I would always color the walls …” Mac Lain found this talent of his when he was 10 years old. Berger and MacLain both described that art is a talent, because not everyone can draw and have artistic abilities.

There are artists out there that have an impact on students’ lives and have become an inspiration to them. Senior Alex Pesak talks about an artist that inspires her. “My art teacher, Ms. Church, is my inspiration! Always pushing me to do better!”

The pieces these students create can mean so much to them. Not only did they create it, but it expresses excitement when they finish the masterpiece. Hunter explains that the most exciting piece she has ever drawn is a lion. It was not  just a regular lion, but she created it with a bunch of crazy designs. Hunter says, “You’re the only person that created it, and no one else can.” Thomas explains that all of her pieces are equal when it comes down to how exciting it was for her to create them.

In the near future Thomas sees herself becoming an artist, as Pesak plans to go to a school at the University of Indianapolis to major in Graphic Design and Visual Communication, while Hunter, MacLain, and Berger all have much bigger plans in mind. Senior Hunter explains,  “Art is always going to be something that I love and it’s going to be something I enjoy doing at the end of a long day.” No matter where art takes these students in life, they all seem to love the hobby.
