Thanksgiving is a day full of food and good times. Students at Plmouth High School celebrate Thanksgiving in different ways.
Students have traditions they partake in during this holiday, such as Senior Danielle Erickson who spends Thanksgiving at a hotel swimming and playing card games with her family. Others do not spend Thanksgiving with relatives, and instead dedicate the day to giving back to the community. Freshman Nathaniel Carper spends his day bringing Thanksgiving leftovers to the less fortunate. “I like seeing the smile on people’s faces,” he said.
Traditions vary throughout the school as well as the families they spend it with. The traditions that are celebrated go from simple games or just staying in and talking. Freshman Mimi Southwell spends her Thanksgiving with her neighbors. Kaila Himes has split up Thanksgivings with both sides of her family.
Thanksgivings is a day that memories are made in families. Freshman Jared Thieling’s favorite memory is carving the turkey for his family. Freshman Kaila Himes recalls when she made bread for her family and forgot to add crucial ingredients. Her family has the tradition of making bread each year.
The traditions are celebrated go from simple games to just staying in and talking. Freshman Victoria Leazenby enjoys napping on Thanksgiving as well as playing games with her family on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is spent many different ways. Thanksgiving is a day that can bring family and friends closer together.
