Throughout Plymouth High School, students have been making a variety of changes. One particular student, junior Wesley Seidelmann, has been making a difference by writing stories.

If thirty two dollars is raised each month, Lorumben gets one hot meal a day, medical treatment, and is able to go to school for the whole month. Photo by: Keaton Espich.
Seidelmann has been writing stories since his eighth grade year. “I decided to write stories after I had to write a short story for English class and got a lot of positive feedback,” Seidelmann said. He will write any type of story. “It really depends on my mood. Overall I write action and romance stories,” he said.
During Christmas time, Seidelmann decided to make a difference by writing stories to raise money. He said, “The money is being donated to a child in Africa. I believe that I am helping out someone who is less fortunate than me, and making their world much brighter.” Each story is a page long, and only costs 50 cents.
The child’s name is Lorumben Leilinele, a 13 year old boy who lives in Kenya. The money is being donated to Lorumben through the Crossroads Church Youth Group. Lorumben gets one hot meal a day, money for school, and medical treatment for a whole month if thirty-two dollars are raised each month.
Wesley added the option to donate another 50 cents to add another page to the story, though he said “…everyone was satisfied with their stories.” Unfortunately, with a more chaotic schedule, he will not be taking anymore story requests.
Many people have helped make a difference through Seidelmann’s story writing. “I had about seven or eight donors and made over twenty dollars for the child.” Through Seidelmann and these donors, the child will have a little more. “I think it will make his heart gentler and he will be well fed. In turn, he’ll share with his friends and family and everyone will learn how to live happily together,” he said.
Seidelmann is one of the many students throughout PHS contributing and giving back to the community. Each student makes a difference every day, each in different ways.
NOTE: The following is a sample of one of Wesley’s romance stories.
“The last beat of the song faded as he dipped her, her long brown hair a cascading waterfall under her. Gently he brought her up, kneeled and kissed her hand. Her cheeks turned a slight pink as he stood back up. His golden hair was combed over to the side, giving him the look of a rich gentlemen. With a quick turn, he faded into the crowd. She tried to follow him with her eyes, but gave up as everyone went back to their dancing.”
This is one story that I can follow myself. Keep working hard everyone.
