Everyone has hobbies, whether it is a small hobby or a big one. Hobbies can be anything from drawing, to finding rocks, and collecting shells. Hobbies can be found anywhere such as, at home, at school, and at the beach. Hobbies can relax everybody and they can be fun.
Miss Cristine Good, JESSE Aide commented, “Thursday nights I bowl in a woman’s league, and [I] participate in a co-ed volleyball league on Sundays at the LifePlex. I also own several animals.” Junior Andrew Benson’s favorite hobby is collecting rocks. “I like to look for different kinds of rocks and arrow heads,” he said. It doesn’t matter what their hobbies are, as long as students and teachers have fun with their hobbies. Sophomore Abby Gouker said her hobbies are “volleyball, pro wrestling, [and] football.” Sophomore Maddy Good said her hobbies are “taking pictures.” Mrs. Shirley Gidley, substitute teacher said, “I like to do all types of stuff of needle crafts, I also like to do yard work and flower gardening. I also like to cook and read. I [did] play lots of golf.” Teacher, Mr. Kevin Stuckmeyer said his hobbies are golf, watching Michigan football and basketball. Mrs. Magee, nurse, said her hobbies are “running, cooking, [and] reading.” Librarian, Mr. Mayer said his hobbies are watching movies. “I watch more than just about anyone I know,” he said.
It gets time-consuming to get the hobby done. Miss Good said, “I find time for at least one of my hobbies everyday. It’s not difficult to squeeze a few minutes of reading each day.” Benson said that he finds it difficult to find time for his hobby because he works everyday after school. Hobbies can be a good thing, but also a bad thing because they can be distracting. Gouker said that her hobbies do affect her life. Although students and teachers have busy lives, they always find time to squeeze in their hobbies. Mr. Stuckmeyer said, “Most people cannot understand why I live and die based on a football team.”
Some hobbies involve being inside or outside. Mr. Stuckmeyer said, “yes football games and golf are all outside.” Mrs. Gidley said, “my gardening and flowers are outside projects.” Good’s hobby involves being outside. “I love taking pictures of my puppy outside or nature.” Mr. Stuckmeyer said “I find room for Michigan football and golf is a lot more difficult” to squeeze in. Miss Gidley commented, it is not difficult to squeeze in her hobbies in her everyday life. Mrs. Magee said, “yes, I get up at 4:45 a.m. to run and chat. It’s challenging most days.” Mr. Mayer said, “with being involved in so many sports at PHS, it makes it hard to fit them in, but I make do.”
Mrs. Gidley said, “I guess I would have to say [my favorite hobbies are] needle crafts and I do like telling stories, it is certainly relaxing.” Mr. Stuckmeyer said his favorite hobby is Michigan football. Mrs Magee’s favorite hobby is “probably running. I like it because I get to socialize with my sister and it is good for me” she said. Mr. Mayer’s favorite hobby is watching movies. Everyone has at least one favorite hobby. Mr. Mayer said, “I’d like to more ‘outdoorsy’, like hiking and stuff. But that’s pretty hard to do in flat, boring, Plymouth IN.” Mrs Magee said, “ I love to cook for family and friends.” Mrs. Gidley said that “traveling, seeing shows, playing cards etc.” are her favorite hobbies to do with friends. Hobbies are important to have in life so that we can relax. Gouker said “volleyball” is her favorite hobby to do with friends.
