New Staff: Mr. Andrew Dreibelbis

Growing up, Mr. Andrew Dreibelbis was uncertain about his career choice.

Mr. Dreibelbis said, “I changed my major three times, but I was still able to graduate in four years with no idea of what I wanted to do.”

Mr. Dreibelbis is an In School Suspension teacher and is new to teaching at PHS. Last year, he was an aide at Riverside Intermediate School, where he substituted. He mainly worked outside for recess and at times worked for ISS, though Riverside does not have a designated ISS room like PHS. Mr. Dreibelbis is now working on getting a teacher’s license at Western Governors University (WGU) online so he can become a full-time teacher. He has estimated that it will take about one year to complete.

While working at PHS, Mr. Dreibelbis has seen some students that he had last year in the sports that he coaches. He is a coach for the Boys and Girls Golf Teams and Seventh Grade Boys Basketball Team at LJH.

Mr. Dreibelbis coaches these sports because it is something he absolutely loves. He has a big passion for anything sports related, and anything that his daughters, ages four, two, and one, are participating in or interested in. Regarding sports, Mr. Dreibelbis recalls being in three sports when he was in high school: baseball, basketball, and tennis.

Regarding class participation, he believes that in order to get a good response out of the students, that you must establish a rapport with everyone.

“When you establish a rapport and everyone’s loose and comfortable with you, then they are going to talk. If you don’t try to establish a rapport, then no one is going to volunteer,” Mr. Dreibelbis said.

It appears that he has found his calling, teaching and coaching at PHS and LJH.
