Students are not always paying attention during class. A distraction could be their phone, Macbook, or even loud music in their headphones.

A couple things that help sophomore Steven Solmos focus in class are “listening to music, or having the teacher be more friendly and entertaining. Music helps with focusing on projects or homework you are doing. The teacher’s attitude affects our view towards their class.” Solmos believes that it is hard not to get distracted in class “.. it’s very hard not to when you have friends in the class or you have your phone with you.” He thinks that the one thing that he is more focused in and is the easiest to be focused on at school is “math, I find it fun to finish and feel like you accomplished something. …everything is laid back and easy to understand, gives plenty of homework time.” While he is in class, Solmos says that the thing that distracts him the most is his “Phone, someone texts me and I mean I feel the need to respond.” Solmos says he prefers a quiet room to focus better because “I don’t have to deal with any loud noises or problems.” Solmos believes that our school should “Revert to using pencil and paper. That would make the student have focus on what to do. No excuse to why they need their computer.”
Freshman Abby Kraszyk says she prefers “Working by myself in a quiet area, with a plan.” Kraszyk says she gets distracted a lot while in class “Yes. I get distracted by the people surrounding me, and what’s going on outside of the classroom.” Also one of the classes Kraszyk says is the easiest to focus on is “Spanish class, because there aren’t many of my friends in that class.” Kraszyk says that one of the strategies she uses to help her focus is to “Corner myself, and listen to music. She says that the computers are not the reason she does get distracted at school .“ I don’t get distracted by my freedom on this computer, because it’s mostly blocked. I also don’t have time to be messing around on my computer.” Kraszyk says she does not know what she will do so that she can focus better in school “with everyone else around me.”
Things that help sophomore Rachel Hilty focus in school is “Food, because I’m always hungry.” Hilty says that it is the easiest class to focus in is “Adv Nutrition & Wellness.” Some strategies that help her focus in school is “By bringing snacks to school.”
After years of studying students tend to find ways to help them focus. Whether it is listening to music or motivating themselves with food, focusing seems to help do better in school.
