Last week was Plymouth High School’s homecoming week. It is an annual event celebrated twice a year where the “peppiness” of students comes alive.
This year, the event’s theme was “Dream Big.” On Monday, students kicked off spirit week by “dreaming” in their pajamas. On Tuesday, students released their wild side by imagining they were their favorite animal. On Wednesday, students went all western by dressing up as either a cowboy or Indian. On Thursday, students lived in color as they dressed by their specified class color. (SENIORS – BLACK; JUNIORS – BLUE; SOPHOMORES – PURPLE; FRESHMEN – PINK) Finally, Friday students had the chance to show off their school colors during the pep rally and at the Friday night basketball game against Goshen.

Every student had the option whether or not to participate in homecoming week. For example, Sophomore Kristina Bannow chose to participate in homecoming activities because, “ [I think] it’s awesome we get to wear unusual clothes.” Also agreeing with her statement is Sophomore Noemi Aguilar who said, “Get to dress up Crazy!” On the other hand, Junior Taylor Scott says his favorite part about homecoming week was “Spirit!” People cannot forget the excitement that students had when it is time to have a pep rally.

Students in PHS realized the benefits of homecoming week. For example, it gave students the chance to express their creativity. Sophomore Nadia Baca said, “It raises school spirit at PHS!” On the other hand Senior Traci Longanecker said, “I think it benefits students because they get to wear things that they normally wouldn’t get to wear school.” Those are not the only two reasons why it benefits our school. Sophomore Cassi Quissell said, “It would get [students] excited representing our school.” Having a homecoming week was a good way to get students involved with their “peppy” side.
