Health is the general condition of a person. There is physical health, mental health, social health and more; which all determine everyone’s state of well being. A few students at Plymouth High School were asked some questions involving the health of the school and their own health and well being.
Physical well-being plays a big part in health. This is the well-being how people feel when doing their daily activities. Their health affects how they react toward others and how well they work throughout the day.
PHS tries to help students be healthy and active. The school lunch is required to have a certain amount of nutrition in order to ensure that students almost always eating a healthy lunch. Besides healthy food in order to maintain a healthy life, exercise is a necessity. It is required that all students either take P.E. class or be in a school sport.
Being healthy can not always be easy but in the end it is worth it. Some Plymouth High School students believe that it is important to stay healthy and active. Sophomore Jordan Pratt tries his hardest to be healthy. He does this by exercising at home, eating right, and playing school sports. Pratt said, “It’s very important to stay healthy because if you aren’t then you will not be able to live a very happy or good life.”
From a scale of 1-10, freshman Janessa Salazar rates her health as an 8. Running, playing sports, plus eating a balanced and healthy diet all play a part in Salazar’s health. It is important for her to stay healthy, and other than eating out less, she leads a healthy life at PHS. To Salazar, good health means staying the right size and weight, not being anorexic but not being obese either.
Freshman Andrew Gerard believes it is important to stay healthy to help prevent becoming sick and to stay healthy and feel great all the time. In order to stay healthy Gerard tries to eat nutritious food and exercise often. In order to keep his balanced diet he said, “I try to eat healthy foods as well as some other things that I like that aren’t exactly the most nutritious foods in the world.”
All three of these PHS students agree that staying healthy is not an easy task, but in the end it is a great reward. Exercising takes time and lots of energy that some people do not want to give up. For some people it is hard to be healthy because they see all of these goodies and treats that just overwhelm them and convince them into eating stuff that is not good for them. Doing so can sometime throw a person off their balanced diet. It’s also hard when some healthy foods do not taste the best so it is okay to have some sweets in a person’s everyday lifestyle, just not too much. People may want something sweet like brownies or cookies, but they should try and eat something healthy if they want a snack.
Living a happy, healthy lifestyle is important role in a person’s life that people should strive for. Being healthy takes dedication and hard work, in the end though, the outcome can be great.
