Catching up with Track

Spring sports are in full swing with track being  one of those sports.  With track season already in progress, students are competing well.

“It’s really fun and I love seeing the girls everyday, ” Sophomore Lauren Tanner said, remarking on how the season was progressing.  In track, there are numerous events. From sprints to javelin throwing, track has a wide variety of events. Tanner says she runs the 100 meter high hurdles and 300 meter low hurdles as her events.

Setting goals is common in sports. Tanner says that she wants to qualify in the 300 meter low hurdles for regionals. Placing in events is important for making it to regionals. Tanner has usually placed in the top 3 for each event. With practice makes perfect; Tanner said she spends about an hour and a half to two hours practicing a day. Sometimes sports help participants  make new friends. Tanner says, “Track makes new friends in many aspects. You encounter yourself with upperclassmen and underclassmen.” People sometimes take sports seriously or do it for fun. Tanner says ,“ I take it seriously and fun. Around sectionals and NLC’s it gets really serious, but its always fun no matter what.”
