The activities are designed to do one of three things, help develop relationships within the homerooms, help students know themselves better as individuals, and to help students develop a growth mindset. Each month we will be focusing on one of these areas for those activities.”

Freshman have said that their homerooms are a time for relaxing, are usually pretty quiet, and are a time to do homework.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-9664" class="size-medium wp-image-9664" src="http://social.plymouth.k12.in.us/perspective/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Blog-picture-300x143.jpg" alt="Freshman student blog homepage. The freshman students have made blogs to write about their feelings and thoughts about the activities. The students are encouraged to write in their blogs at least once a day. “It’s always good to write, and I think people enjoy writing about themselves and their lives,” said homeroom teacher Mrs. Constantia Wendt. Students in the freshman class are given assignments at least once a month to write in their school blog; they are mainly writing about their lives and their point of views on the topic of that week. The blogs give the students “a chance to process the activities that we do in class. They get the chance to verbalize their feelings,” said Mrs.Read.

In the freshman homerooms the administration and teachers have started a program for freshman to learn about themselves and the others in their class.

[6
57
post-9662","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-school-news","tag-september-2014
