Students are preparing themselves for Spring Break.\u00a0 On April 1 all of the students, staff, and faculty will return to school, with the exception of one PHS faculty member.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Mrs. Mary Beth Hunter, athletic secretary, will be retiring right before Spring Break.\u00a0 Mrs. Hunter\u2019s last day was March 20.<\/p>\n

For Mrs. Hunter, the decision to retire came because her husband, \u201cis also retired and we want to travel and spend time with our children and grandchildren.\u00a0 Our youngest son Matt, lives in Texas with his family and now we can spend more time with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

The majority of adults look forward to retiring and being able to do things that they could not do before due to their busy schedules.\u00a0 Mrs. Hunter is looking forward to being able to spend more time with her grandchildren by watching over them and helping them.<\/p>\n

Retirement can be bitter sweet.\u00a0 There are aspects of one\u2019s job that one might miss and may not be able to do when in retirement.\u00a0 Mrs. Hunter will miss her job because she really likes it.\u00a0 She will also miss, \u201cworking with Mr. Benge every day.\u00a0 We have worked together for 26 years.\u00a0 I will not miss the stress of the job.\u00a0 I will also miss being around athletics and maybe making a difference.\u00a0 I will miss being around the coaches and watching the athletes compete.\u201d<\/p>\n

The most difficult part about leaving for Mrs. Hunter is, \u201cnot being around the people I work with every day.\u00a0 They are my second family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Hunter has been working at this school for quite some time.\u00a0 Mrs. Hunter has worked in the athletic office for 26 years and out of those 26 years she was, \u201cAssistant Athletic Director [for] 10 years.\u00a0 I coached the boy\u2019s tennis team 12 years and the girls\u2019s tennis team 20 years.\u201d<\/p>\n

The best part of doing a job may just be the memories that were created while doing the job.\u00a0 For Mrs. Hunter, the best part about her job has been being around, \u201cMr. Benge – Mr. Scott – the coaches and the athletes.\u00a0 It is really a pleasure to watch the PHS coaches become more successful every year and watch the athletes grow on and off the court\/field.\u201d<\/p>\n

PHS will surely be sad to say farewell to Mrs. Hunter.\u00a0 Mrs. Hunter\u2019s parting words are that, \u201cIt has been a true blessing working [in] the Athletic Office and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.\u00a0 I will miss all of the friendships I have made.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
