Photo by: Patricia Ortiz<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>By Patricia Ortiz<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The whiff of cherry pie tarts and chocolate mousse overfill the nostrils. \u00a0The cheering of crowds can be heard from miles away.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>May 6 was the day of the French Olympics, which was started by French instructor Mr. Monty Peden. \u00a0According to him, the French Olympics were developed because the end of the year was coming, and the classes wanted to do a fun project that would incorporate French, technology, creativity and the students learning as well as others being involved.<\/p>\n<p>There were 20 teams competing in the Olympics. \u00a0Some Olympic coaches included Mr. Cox, Mr. Ames, Mr. Hassett, Mr. Masson and Ms. Wezeman.<\/p>\n<p>A variety of events were scheduled to happen. \u00a0Freshman Grace Hilty competed in the 100 meter sprint and was excited to see how the Olympics turned out. \u00a0Having fun is something that freshman Bethany Bors was looking forward to. \u00a0She competed for team Greece and was in the archery event. \u00a0Having fun with everyone involved was what sophomore Sarah Iwinski wanted.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4798\" style=\"width: 209px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/DSC_0703.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4798\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4798\" title=\"DSC_0703\" src=\"http:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/DSC_0703-199x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4798\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cup stacking is one of the many events planned for the Olympics. Photo by: Patricia Ortiz<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Junior Jake Harley was on team Israel, and if he could he would add, \u201cflying&#8230;with attachable wings,\u201d as an event because it is, \u201ccooler than hang-gliding.\u201d \u00a0Freshman Jocelyn Rico takes a more safe route and says she would add a water balloon fight as an event because it would be fun. \u00a0On a more aggressive route, junior Rolando Martinez would add rugby as an event because it would demonstrate who the best competitors are.<\/p>\n<p>To show team pride, many teams have opted to wear team shirts or have locker signs. \u00a0Junior Armando Diaz states that his team had something to symbolize who they are. \u00a0A large flag was created by junior Aiden Osman. \u00a0He says that everyone was able to see the flag that unifies the Republic of Chad.<\/p>\n<p>There were individuals behind the Olympics that helped the event run smoothly and to help set up. \u00a0Freshman Star Gonzalez is helping the effort by helping set up the volleyball court. \u00a0Others such as freshmen Elizabeth Portteus and Guadalupe Ortiz helped by greeting people as they came in to the Olympics.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4799\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/DSC_0705.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4799\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4799\" title=\"DSC_0705\" src=\"http:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/DSC_0705-300x284.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"284\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4799\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Students will be able to take a picture with their own cameras or phones as The Phantom of the Opera, Pepe le Pew, or a victim of the guillotine.
