practiced and played hard in sectionals and regionals, while Junior Varsity teams finished off with a challenging tournament.

For the boys tennis team, winning sectionals is nothing less than tradition. With their 17th straight sectional title, being NLC Champions and finishing with 12 wins and just six losses, one could easily say that the 2010 season was a success. “I think the season went well,” states junior Jordan Scheetz. “We accomplished things no one ever thought we would.” Also a junior, Lane Singleton agrees and says that there is personally nothing he would change about his season. “I’m disappointed that it’s over because this was a really fun and successful year,” Singleton adds.

Led by co-captains Erin Kinney, Megan Schenk, and Stephanie Gorka, the girls’ golf season proved to be a success this year. With a record of 13-4, the team also went on to win sectionals. “I was kind of upset that we got out at regionals, but then I though about how far we made it and that’s pretty good,” says senior Erin Kinney. Because golf is all about consistency, there were no significant changes in the practices come sectional time.

Varsity Football also had a winning record with six wins and four losses. The freshmen players, like the varsity team, finished with a winning record of 5-3. The junior varsity finished with four wins and five losses.

For the boys soccer team, however, this year was more of a building year. “We struggled a lot but we have grown a lot as a team,” says junior Micah Harner. The varsity team finished their season with a record of 4-9-4. “I wish we could have just pulled off some more wins, especially Manchester in the sectionals and Argos in the regular season,” Harner admits. The junior varsity team closed their season with a record of 3-10-2 and a seventh place finish in their tournament.

The girls soccer team finished with a record of 6-9-1 in the regular season. After beating Culver Community and Argos in sectional play, the girls made it to the Sectional Championship, but unfortunately fell short to Culver Academy. The Junior Varsity team had a very impressive record with ten wins and only three losses, and four ties. To cap their season, the team finished third in the tournament.

The Varsity girls volleyball team had a winning record this season with 19 wins and 15 losses. “I feel like our season went great. We got off to a rough start in the beginning, but we kept getting better as the season went on,” says sophomore Marissa German. The girls made it to the second round of sectionals, but unfortunately fell short to Marian.”I was really sad when the season ended because we won’t be playing with Meagan, Haley, Shannon, or Lindsey anymore,” German says of this year’s senior players. The Junior Varsity team had a season record of 12-13, and the freshman girls finished with two wins and 21 losses.

With a variety of outcomes and accomplishments, the hard work of all the fall athletes for 2010 is apparent. The staff of the Pilgrim Perspective wishes the best of luck to all winter athletes and coaches.

By Maggie Marrow With Autumn coming to an end, PHS teams are ending their
