Ms. Boardman teaches numerous classes from introduction to 2-D art and 3-D art, to painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and studio art. For a teacher, having a student be proud about what he/she can accomplish is exhilarating. Ms. Boardman says “I love seeing their pride in their work and the excitement they get when they accomplish something they didn’t think they could.”

For art students everywhere, Ms. Boardman has some advice, “Artwork is never truly finished, but it is all in the eye of the beholder.” Sophomore Hayley Synder says that her favorite thing about art is seeing what she is capable of when she puts time into what she is working on. Sophomore Dennis Manuwal says his favorite thing about his art class is the self portraits, but freshman Chandlor Lamb says he loves the sculptures. Freshman Gage Nardi says the coolest thing about art is, “I just like to draw and have fun doing it. I draw weird stuff, sometimes I don’t even know what I’m drawing until it’s done.”

Freshmen Carly Berger, Lisa Carnegie, and Grace Hilty, junior Brandon McNeely, and sophomore Cody Critchlow agree that by the end of the class they wish to improve their drawing skills.

Scholastic Art and Writing contest is coming up. It is not too late to submit some work because the deadline is January 17. If there are no open spaces on that school schedule for an art class, Ms. Boardman would like students to know that Art Club meets the first Tuesday of every month.

Art classes are not about learning how to be an artist. Use this opportunity and “Don’t be afraid to let your inner child out and come sign up for an art class. You will amaze yourself at how creative you really are once you are taught proper technique!” Ms. Boardman said.

By Layne Holloway Plymouth High School has theater, speech, choir, band, and many other classes to help students express themselves.
