Photo by: Lauren Rearick<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>By Lauren Rearick<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Located at the heart of the Plymouth community, Centennial Park provides entertainment and enjoyment for people of all ages, including several PHS students.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>From the public pool and tennis courts to the baseball diamonds and walking trails, the park allows students to enjoy their favorite activities. \u00a0Freshman Briana Gantz said, \u201cSometimes on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the summer, I go to the park pool with the Boys and Girls Club to swim.\u201d \u00a0Fellow freshman Faith Hilty also enjoys swimming at the public pool on hot summer days. \u00a0\u201cI usually get a pool pass and go swimming every day,\u201d Hilty said.<\/p>\n<p>The pool seems to be a popular part of the park, along with the beautiful walking trails. \u00a0Hilty said, \u201cI love to walk on the park trails, and they are also a great place to run.\u201d \u00a0Gantz also spends time on the trails. \u00a0\u201cI always run when we go to my grandma\u2019s house during the summer. \u00a0I like to run the trails while I listen to my iPod,\u201d Gantz said. \u00a0Sophomore Amber Redinger takes walks on the trails as often as she can. \u00a0\u201cI walk on the trails whenever I get the chance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the pool and trails are favorite parts of Centennial Park, there are many other activities that PHS students enjoy. \u00a0Redinger said, \u201cI love jumping off the swings and sliding down the slides at the playground.\u201d Hilty said that she likes to walk along the river on summer afternoons. \u00a0Sophomore Katie Galloway goes to the park almost every day, where she enjoys swinging and picnicking.<\/p>\n<p>Not only does Centennial Park provide students with entertainment, it also gives them an opportunity to help others and the community. \u00a0Gantz said, \u201cIn the summer, I used to participate in the children\u2019s Big Red 3 Marathon, but now I help the little kids with it.\u201d \u00a0Redinger also dedicates her time to summer park programs. \u00a0\u201cI help score youth basketball games,\u201d Redinger said.<\/p>\n<p>After spending so much time at the park, some PHS students have suggestions about what could be added to Centennial in order to make it a better place. \u00a0Galloway said, \u201cMore drinking fountains and more benches would make the park better.\u201d Gantz suggested, \u201cI think they should have more activities and send people letters saying what, where, and when the activities are.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Lauren Rearick Located at the heart of the Plymouth community, Centennial Park provides entertainment and enjoyment for people of all ages, including several PHS students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1809","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1809"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1809"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1809\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1829,"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1809\/revisions\/1829"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1809"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=1809"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=1809"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
