The yearbooks have a different theme every year. Mrs. Amy Schmeltz, the advisor of the yearbook, said that this year’s theme is One Day at a Time. The theme was developed by the editors who worked on it at a Ball State yearbook workshop over the summer. “At the workshop we came up with ideas for the book including the theme,” junior Samantha Hellinga said.

This year the yearbook will be purple. “The student body had the opportunity to vote on a cover earlier in the school year, and they chose purple. I think they will love the cover! I do,” Mrs. Schmeltz said.

Portraits, pictures from dances, sport pictures, candids, as well as a few other surprises can be expected in this year’s yearbook according to Mrs. Schmeltz. Senior Rachael Gracia said that some of the surprises in store for the yearbook are random, unexpected things. Junior Zach Mahan said “we create spreads detailing the academic accomplishments of PHS students and activities (like Spell Bowl and Academic Super Bowl), class activities, PHS’s awards convocations, Sweetheart and Prom happenings, and much, much more!”

One thing will be in the yearbook this year that was not in previous years. “In addition to senior bios, seniors will also have their signatures in the book. Senior portraits were taken in cap and gown. Our goal is to get every student in the book three times, and so we asked all of the students to explain what they would do ‘one day’” Those answers are featured throughout the book. There are lots of cool things that make 2011 a year to remember,” Mrs. Schmeltz said.

“At the beginning of the year books cost $40. As the year goes on it increases to $45 and now it is $50. If you decide to buy a yearbook after they come in next year it will cost $60,” Hellinga said.

By Patricia Ortiz Memories from fun times in high school are cherishable moments that people often wish to preserve.

[8

post-1620","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-feature
