Photo by: Maggie Morrow<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em> <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Each year, the journalism class sees several new faces added to the number of writers for the Pilgrim Perspective.\u00a0 Everyone\u00a0 has\u00a0 many different personalities and interests, but fortunately all these traits mesh together\u00a0 well to\u00a0 create\u00a0 a great paper.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\n\u201cIt sounded wonderful and I wanted to practice with my writing,\u201d sophomore Tori Godwin says of her reasons for enrolling.\u00a0 Though she is not yet sure of her future career path, she says that she has considered writing.\u00a0 In her spare time, Godwin enjoys listening to music, writing and singing.\u00a0 Although she does admit to being somewhat of a \u201chomebody,\u201d she always loves to spend time with her best friend, Krissy.\u00a0 Godwin feels that most people do not know that she is smarter than a first impression might show.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\n<dl id=\"attachment_289\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" style=\"width: 310px;\">\n<dt><em><a href=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/sam-marcie-melody.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" title=\"sam marcie melody\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/sam-marcie-melody-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/em><em><em>Senior  Samantha Howard, sophomore Marcie Blair, and senior  Melody Granier take  a break from writing their articles. Photo by:  Maggie Morrow<\/em><\/em><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/em><br \/>\n\u201cMy closest friends thought it would be a nice\u00a0 experience to try to bring my open mindedness to everyone,\u201d says senior Samanth Howard.\u00a0 Howard most enjoys getting people to think in a different way through journalism.\u00a0 She believes that journalism would be an interesting career, however she hopes to attend college to become a Criminal and Forensic Psychologist.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m actually a very shy person who keeps my life completely private,\u201d Howard admits as something most people do not know about her.<br \/>\n\u201cI decided to enroll in journalism because I really like writing and wanted to get better at it,\u201d explains sophomore Pauline Dagaas.\u00a0 She, among many other journalism students, really appreciates the independence and freedom given by the teacher while in the class.\u00a0 \u201cYou pretty much work the whole time without anyone getting on your case about it,\u201d she says.\u00a0 Outside of school, Dagaas is a member of the varsity cheerleading squad and spends many of her Saturdays at Speech meets.\u00a0 \u201cIn my spare time, I like hanging out with friends, shopping, listening to music, going running, or going to the movies.\u201d\u00a0 In closing, Dagaas admits to being a die-hard Harry Potter fan.<br \/>\nAlso a sophomore, Maddy Good is excited.\u00a0 In hopes of someday becoming an elementary school teacher, Good always looks forward to trying new things.\u00a0 \u201cI had never done [journalism] before and I thought it would be something fun to try,\u201d she states simply.\u00a0 Out of school, Good is also a member of the varsity cheerleading squad.\u00a0 \u201cI like playing with my dog, hanging out with my friends and shopping,\u201d she adds.\u00a0 One thing most people may not know about her is that her favorite food is watermelon.<br \/>\nSenior Jon Scott also thought journalism would simply be something fun to try.\u00a0 \u201cI would encourage people who like fun stuff to join journalism,\u201d he says.\u00a0 He is hoping for a future in meteorology and shares that he is not currently in any sports, but he finds ways to pass the time.\u00a0 In his abundant spare time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, playing video games and networking via Facebook.\u00a0 \u201cMost likely, [most people do not know that] I\u2019m more social outside of school than what I am in school,\u201d Scott concludes.<br \/>\n\u201cI decided to be in journalism because I want to be a journalist,\u201d states sophomore Alexandria Schaffer.\u00a0 With a unique highlight of this course, she says that she most enjoys handing out questionnaires.
