In a couple weeks, a new restaurant will be opening on N. Michigan St. in Plymouth. The restaurant, called \u201cSymphony,\u201d will be run by the current owner of King Gyros in Plymouth and will serve steak, pasta and fish.<\/p>\n

The owner, Jim Latif, said that the restaurant intends to cater to all sorts of people, especially families.<\/p>\n

The restaurant will be opened in the building that used to be the home of the former restaurant Schoop\u2019s. \u201cWe had to completely remodel the building,\u201d Latif said.<\/p>\n

Latif has owned King Gyros in Plymouth for 21 years, and he said that he has worked primarily in the restaurant business since 1976.<\/p>\n

He said that the new restaurant will primarily serve steak, fish and pasta. Of course, there are several restaurants in Plymouth that serve as competition either directly by serving very similar food — like Applebee\u2019s — or restaurants that indirectly compete with Symphony by attracting the same audience — like Wings, Etc. and Opie\u2019s Deli.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpie\u2019s is pretty great, so that is going to be tough on the new restaurant,\u201d junior Maggie Howard said. \u201cI will probably consider stopping in [to the new restaurant] though.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many students said that Plymouth is lacking in a few specific areas in terms of restaurants — students like juniors Alex Jaggers, Christina Krozel and Howard said that they would like to see sit-down \u201cAmerican\u201d-style restaurants like Red Robin and White Castle. Some also said that they would\u00a0 like to have an IHOP.<\/p>\n

Other popular choices for restaurants in Plymouth include restaurants serving steak — like Texas Roadhouse — as well as restaurants serving pasta like Olive Garden.<\/p>\n

It seems that the new restaurant\u2019s plan to serve \u201csteaks, fish and pasta\u201d corresponds well to the types of food that many students would like to see Plymouth restaurants serve.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
