{"id":10556,"date":"2015-02-26T11:27:01","date_gmt":"2015-02-26T16:27:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/?p=10556"},"modified":"2015-02-26T11:27:01","modified_gmt":"2015-02-26T16:27:01","slug":"homework","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/?p=10556","title":{"rendered":"Homework"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Homework is a different method of assigning work for students. \u00a0Homework is seen as a negative task\u00a0 for students because they have to take it home and finish it. \u00a0What they do not understand, is that it is a way to practice what they have learned in class. \u00a0The more they continue to work on a topic the better they become with\u00a0 that topic. \u00a0The main purpose of assigning homework is for students to practice the material that was already presented in class. Freshman Jennah Nifong,\u00a0 says, \u201cI think that homework is in fact a benefit to our education, and it helps us when we get out into the real world.\u201d \u00a0Nifong takes advantage of the extra practice because she believes that it is a way to teach herself in her own way, using what the teacher taught earlier. \u00a0Nifong also stated that she always does her homework because she finds it very helpful and knows it is for her own good. \u00a0The class where Nifong gets the most homework in is English. The class where she gets the least homework in is Speech.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Sophia Keller says \u201cI think homework is beneficial in some ways. I understand that you must practice certain things to learn them completely however, I do think that homework puts a lot of stress and anxiety on students and takes the motivation out of people at times. \u201dSome students do not have as much homework as others,\u00a0 but Keller has homework every night. \u201cI basically have homework every night because all my classes right now are core classes, I pretty much always have a paper, an essay or project due.\u201d I personally think the name would have to be changed to classwork, if all teachers allowed time for homework to be done in class.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10554\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0697.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10554\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10554\" src=\"http:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0697-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"English book  Photo by: Elia Figueroa \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0697-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0697-900x602.jpg 900w, https:\/\/social.plymouth.k12.in.us\/perspective\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/DSC_0697.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-10554\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">English book <br \/>Photo by: Elia Figueroa<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sophomore\u00a0 Megan Cooper, said \u201cOne advantage or benefit is that you can get practice on your own.\u201d Megan does not always do her homework because of lack of time. \u00a0The class where she gets the most homework in is World History. \u201cWe have something to be working on every night.\u201d \u00a0The class where she gets less homework in or none at all is from her 4th period class where she is a teacher\u2019s aide. \u00a0Megan mentioned that she could get more homework assigned when she is falling behind in a class. \u00a0She stated, \u201cThat is the only time I wish we would have more homework.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some students have their very own personal opinion on homework. Rules are already set in stone on how homework should be handled though. The two young high school students had their own ways to view this controversial topic but one thing they both agreed on was to keep homework at school.
